125 swimmers crossed Galway Bay, (44 solo swimmers, 25 relay teams – 81 relay team swimmers).
- Weather: The morning was cloudy and misty with limited visibility making it challenging for the boat captains. Around the halfway stage of the swim, the cloud cleared and the sun came out. The tide was coming in for the duration of the swim with high tide in Galway at 2.00 pm. The wind speed on the bay made it challenging for the swimmers on the crossing. This was somewhat compensated for by the warmer than normal sea temperature of 18.5 C, especially for those swimming in togs. Due to the postponed swims in July and August, a number of swimmers unfortunately could not participate in the (September) 2023 swim.
